Check out this Charming Café on Newark

Fans of Grove Street’s Uncle Momo, have you visited their fabulous new sister restaurant?

Vis-à-vis Cafe  is the latest chapter for owners Ali and Narjis Lyoussi and chef Wissam El Masri. While Momo is celebrated for its sit-down Lebanese-Moroccan fusion, Vis à Vis is the more casual, European-inspired sibling, with counter ordering and inside/outside seats.

The menu  leans heavily into fresh, savory Mediterranean ingredients suited for breakfast and lunch. We really love the signature breakfast platter, featuring two eggs served with a side of house-made hummus, fresh tabouli, potatoes and salad. For lunch, the roast beef sandwich is a highlight, made with house-smoked beef, cheddar, mayo, a horseradish kick, and a pickle salad on marble rye bread. Other substantial lunch options include the Sabich, which is packed with fried eggplant, hard-boiled egg, and tahini.

The Vis-à-Vis drinks are your usual and expectedly excellent espresso program along with specialty options like matcha lattes. Special mention to their sublime iced matcha with oat milk.

Vis-à-Vis is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
