Come on Down to Irving Public
Irving Public in the Heights is the quintessential neighborhood bar, unpretentious and welcoming. Formerly known as the Blarney Pub, the space underwent a transformation in 2023 when the new owners (Keyhole Bar, Grace O’Malley) transformed it into a warm and cozy hangout that seamlessly blends historic charm with modern comfort. It truly is a place to settle in and get comfortable. Like many great local bars, they offer multiple ways to unwind, be it cheering on The Jets, Knicks, etc. on large screen TVs, playing a round of pool or having a game night (Jenga, Connect4, etc.) with pals.
This year, Irving Public expanded its offerings to include a full menu of New York and Montreal deli-style sandwiches including house-made pastrami and corned beef, alongside bar classics like wings, burgers, and fries. The craft beers on tap include a curated rotation often featuring local favorites like 902 Brewing's "Path" Pale Ale and reliable classics like Allagash White, Hofbrau, and Pilsner. For those looking for more than a pint, the bar offers inventive cocktail and shot specials, including holiday-themed deals like $8 Cosmopolitans and $5 house shots during major event nights.
Live music factors in to the fun atmosphere, along with charismatic bartenders and a cool local crowd. It is a lovely atmosphere where you can easily start for one drink and end up all night. Either way, Irving Public is a real taste of JC and a straight up gem.
