Old World Meets Modern at Call Me Mia

While they just opened in late April, Call Me Mia fits so well into the historically Italian Village Downtown neighborhood that it feels like it has always been there. The owners have fashioned it as a European-style café and certainly that tone is set as soon as you set foot inside. A charming small table is snuggled against the front window, perfect for people-gazing as you sip a barista-prepared coffee drink. We also really enjoyed the good old-fashioned drip coffee. Prepared from locally roasted beans, the taste is super smooth and delicious, free of any acidic aftertaste at all. As of early May, Call Me Mia was still in soft open mode, serving a limited number of croissants and breads. A more enhanced menu was in the works so definitely check out the Café in person.

For one, it is such a pretty place to spend time in. Large scale black and white photos of legendary Italian film siren Sophia Loren adorn the wall along with other glamourous Italian-aspired photography. There is a second room at Call Me Mia which features a large communal style table as well as shelves filled with pretty design and travel books as well as books for children. Congratulations to these entrepreneurs bringing another fantastic coffee shop to JC.
