Bangin’ Brunch at Café Tabarka
Have you tried the Brunch Menu at Café Tabarka? Located on Erie St. downtown, Café Tabarka opened as the sister restaurant to the beloved Dolma Café on Grand Street. They started out with coffee drinks and pastries until expanding to a full brunch menu last year. Available Wednesday through Sunday, the brunch menu still includes pastries and other sweets while offering savory dishes with a flavorful Turkish and pan-Mediterranean twist on standard brunch menu items.
To start, the egg dishes. The Menemen is a tasty treat of Turkish-style scrambled eggs served in a tomato ragu with onions and peppers and pita on the side. We also love the Pastirma Eggs Benedict – thin slices of cured beef mix up this traditional dish that is served with mixed greens and roasted potatoes. Egg sandwiches are also available with kashkaval cheese, sort of the Turkish equivalent of cheddar.
The Mediterranean dishes we love so much include the Sauteed Spinach with Labneh – a delicious tangy yogurt-like dip that comes with pita. We also love the Lamb and Eggplant Moussaka and the Avocado Toast with Za’atar. On the lighter side there are salads and on the sweeter side, waffles accompanied with fruit and real maple syrup. The service is sweet and fast at Café Tabarka, whether you are stopping in for a quick Latte or planning to sit and linger over their truly delicious food.
