Consigned Designs comes to Downtown

Consigned Designs recently opened downtown on Jersey and Newark Ave. and simply put this is a gamechanger for the retail scene in Jersey City. The store is the passion project of a recently married couple Amanda and Tommy Atkinson who live nearby in the PAD (Powerhouse Arts District) and btw had their wedding at Corto followed by a reception at Pet Shop Bar – how wonderfully Jersey City is that?!

Amanda studied fashion merchandising and worked as a brand manager for years while Tommy is in finance and also well versed in the retail consignment business. Growing up in Greenwich, CT he spent time at his mother’s original Consigned Designs. The two stores will often share and swap merchandise to cater to their different clientele.

So what’s here? An expertly curated selection of vintage and contemporary clothes, bags, shoes and accessories from very high-end fashion houses (Chanel, YSL, Gucci, Tory Burch) mixed with more accessible brands like Lululemon and Lilly Pulitzer; “We want everyone to be able to come in and find something here so our stock is intentionally diverse,” Amanda explains. Indeed, while we lusted after a 1970s Gucci coat that retails for over 3k, we were very pleased to walk out with a gorgeous Ralph Lauren tunic and Lululemon leggings for under $150.

Oh, and that mob wife trend that has gone viral? It is covered too. “We can’t even count how many faux and vintage fur coats we sold last month as a result,” Amanda says.

So happy to have this store in Jersey City!
